Mindstorm
A fearsome & fantastic journey to the heart of the Savage Id.
About Me
- Name: Lead
- Location: Invisible City, North Dakota, United States
Read my book, The Mind-Warp Era. It'll tell you about the real Lead--& his alter-ego, the true Rootboy covered with slime (the Savage Id). Partly a poignant memoir, partly a cosmicomic book, it relays the Id's adventures thru dark dimensions of funereal dread, with Timothy Leary as co-pilot. (The rumors of his death have been greatly exaggerated.)

Slept okay last night -- after adding 2 of Trish's Benadryl to my own drug cocktail. She seems to be doing okay with the med change. Today when we went to the bank to withdraw money for car insurance, she didn't even whine about wanting spending cash. Car-girl & I went to Bi-Mart to buy some root-killer for the Rootboy, then did some grocery shopping. I got my usual coconut cream pie at the Gallery, & then we had to split cuz we had to pay the insurance. Trish did very well on driving today, & wants to take her test next week.

sleepless in Invisible
I've been having a terrible time sleeping lately. Last weekend I woke up before 5:00 AM, so Trish & I both went to bed early, when who should appear but Kimothy, our deaf friend. I explained in sign -- though she had a cochlear implant & is learning speech -- that we were going to bed early that night; come back some other time. Then Thursday Trish was called off work. McDonald's was having a slow day & said they didn't need her. So Kim showed up again that night & talked to us quite a bit in sign, which was OK, 'cause Trish didn't have to work, anyway. That night I only took one of my sleeping pills & woke up at 2:00 AM. I was burned out all day, & finally invited Fred over to watch a movie with me, when Trish was at work. That night, I made sure to take 2 Restorel, & 2 Benadryl on top of it. I woke up around 8:00, so I'm finally feeling rested, & able to work on QA.
Trish just left for her hair appointment. She's going driving again with Trish-uh! this afternoon, & will be taking her break in PJ's, a nearby restaurant. After the way McDonald's treated her Thursday, & the way they cut her down from 20 hours to 12, I suggested she try to find another job. She took out an application for the 4B's yesterday, when we walked to McRonald's to pick up her check, & today she'll be applying at PJ's. I think she has a good chance of getting in there, & am really hoping she does, as it's not that far to walk in inclement weather.

Welcome home from the Kamp
Last weekend was fairly normal; I don't remember; I don't recall -- whatever I did, it's slid away across the universe. Then Tuesday the Layout left for Fresno to spend a few nights by the lake. Trish wasn't able to go, as she hadn't been able to arrange for time off from work. She needed to see Vickie -- lustrous lady of a Sinfield world -- to help deal with her emotions. Sunday, she'd tried calling her dad, & the ignorant jerk refused to speak to me, because I'm "lazy" since I'm on SSI & "nobody should sit around & wait for a check from the government", & does he think wrighting the cosmicomics is easy? Really, Tim Leary. Wish I had some of that good U-boat so I could continue to complete my Chemical Philosophy. I fly so high, I swoop so low, I always know exactly which way I'm going to go. Away from Scientology, for one thing. Scientology kills!
So we drove out there, & Cheri served us deli sandwiches & chips. There was a little noncorean fishing, good wet t-shirt stuff, then a lot of bitching from Cheri. I mostly just read my book until Wednesday afternoon: Car-girl brought Trish out to our place in the country, along with Wayne Man. I felt so neglected when she left. There was Nobodaddy to share my SF with, & I took a new joy in reading: I found out again that I wouldn't mind teaching.
Then an Invisible Hog came screaming across the highway, & some biker wound up telling us there was a wildfire, & did we have a cell-phone? Then an hour later a Sheriff's deputy drove up & told us to take our medicine & be prepared to leave everything else behind. We went to Blacky's (though there are plenty of Whiteys here) to ride the tides of fate until they told us we could return.
Wednesday night it rained, so Cheri rigged up some tarps, in order to protect us from the high winds. Thursday I mostly just sat around & read my book, as I didn't she-wanna to play cards, & Kimothy, the she-wanna, is in the past at an incredible distanciation.
Finally, this morning, we were back in town. I carried my stuff all the way home, & Trish was so happy to see me again. She finished her game of Penguins & we went to the Soup Kitchen for lunch. In the afternoon she watched Hulk, which she'd rented from the vid-store, until it came time for me to fix supper. Cheri had given me some corean chicken, so I marinated it in teriyaki sauce from the buckadingdong store, made some Rice & Easy, & a can of green beans. & then she had to split cuz she had no time to waste.
Then there was bad news on the email: Blanket-man's gone gonzo & is trying to remove Union Maid from the nursing home. Actually, it's Karen Relationships who's gone gonzo, & John is trying to have himself appointed Mother's guardian. Also, there were a lot of reviews of QA in Critters, even though the motorway's stretching...

welcome to the kamp
I worked on Arn some this morning, but have stopped for the day. Although the narrative was well-written, the dialogue sounded kind of wooden, especially with the dread as-you-know-Bobs. A plethora of them, actually. Today, I get my shot, & maybe that'll help, but tomorrow I'm going camping with the Perky Pam Layout. Trish couldn't get time off from work, so I'll be out at the lake without her, but I need a vacation. Initially, anyway, we had a long-distance relationship, & only saw each other when we could afford the bus tickets back & forth.
Trish & I both get our shots this morning. She really needs hers, as she's having problems with her dad, a conservative who thinks she shouldn't be getting a check from the government & also shouldn't be on all that medicine. After all, he has a high school diploma & worked as a mechanic, while her doctor went to med school, so she should listen to him (as someone once said about Tom Cruise & the Science of Churchatology). He refused to talk to me on the phone yesterday, which really upset her. He's a snob who looks down his nose at me because I don't have a job & I'm a writer. He also told her that we "don't have a real marriage" because we're both on SSI. Trish had to call the crisis line yesterday, & they advised her to break off contact with her father, unless it's an emergency. Her step-mom is also kind of the same way about the medication. She always says that Trish is on too much because she slurs her words, whereas the doctor said it's because she has Marfan syndrome.
The good news is that Trish won a red ribbon at the fair for her homemade raisin cookies. She dried some grapes on her dehydrator & put them in cookies. My painting only got a white ribbon, but this isn't the ideal location for abstracts.

Suzanne Locoweed
Yesterday, Trish & I went to see Dr. Lockwood, or as my spell-checker renders it, "Suzanne Locoweed". Trish got out of bed around 8:30, because I woke her up; when the Benadryl is in her blood she naps in. We hung around Iron Claw House for awhile, ate hot dogs & chips, then went upstairs to see Suzanne. I was concerned about Trish's oculogyric crises, & asked if we could switch her over to Risperdal. Yet since the haldol is working so well, Suzanne was reluctant to do that. Instead, she cut Trish's dose in half, & added a low dose of Risperdal.
We went to Western Drug to fill it, & I bought Trish a pop at El Taco Loco on the way home. Some rude person walked up to me on the way out & said, "Did you stare enough?"
I shouted, "I'm partially blind! It's not my fault!"
The woman laughed & walked out the door as Trish called her a motherfucker. Trish felt she'd done it because she was Indian, & even though I was hurt, upset & mad, I didn't succumb to racism -- white people do the same thing to me. I don't care if the woman didn't like my "staring", what bothered me was that she laughed when I told her I have eye problems. She should've apologized for being rude, not laughed & ran out the door.
The good news is that I found a detailed outline of Arn this morning -- around 30 or 40 pages. I haven't really read thru it yet, but this evening I'm going to experiment with my scanner, & see if I can scan it into MS-Word. If not, I can at least read thru the thing -- something I had trouble doing when I first discovered it, as the ribbon was grey & the type small. But this should expedite the reconstruction of Arn greatly, & I should be done with the new Part 2b soon.
Next week, the Perky Pam Layout is going camping. It will be an opportunity to look at Noncorean wonders, & finish the book I'm reading, assuming I bring along a magnifying glass.

The Dread Blanket-man (or vacation in Florida)
The other day, Fearless Taco called, with a message of ominous portent: Blanket-man was missing. He'd checked out of the Danville Inn, without telling anyone where he was going. His irresponsibility (folie au diux) has created terrible problems for Union Maid, & we really need to involve the courts. However, I became very upset with John, because when we had a disagreement about science -- I was trying to explain the haldol that's in Trish's blood & the blood that's in her head -- he gave me a lecture -- & then kept on talking when I tried to explain that he was wrong. I sent him some nasty email, up until the point where Car-girl took me out to the Gallery & bought me a piece of pie, following which we wrote an apology to John.
He called last night.
Mother seems to be doing better, but Marianne (with the shaky hands) told me that, if Dave's misspent any of Mother's money for the last 3 years, Medicaid will penalize her by that much divided by the average cost of a nursing home for a month. Since Karen only married Dave for the buckadingdongs, & to control him thru sex, it's likely that the money has been misspent. Also, Mother could be kicked out of Hearthstone Manor if Blanket-man doesn't pay the bills, & we don't want that to happen. They think institutions are evil. They should be institutionalized.
